Schwinn Jasmine Girl’s Bike with Training Wheels,16″Wheels, Multiple Colors Review
  • SmartStart: a redesign of a child’s bike to better match a child’s size. Alighter frame, smaller grips, a more narrow pedal position.
  • A sweet looking bike. Comes with a matching seat and handlebar basket, training wheels and front and rear fenders, chain guard.
  • The rear coaster brake and front hand brake make this a great choice for beginners. It helps gives them two ways to learn to stop and helps them transition to a bigger bike that only has hand brakes.
  • Sturdy steel frame, one piece crank, ball bearing drive shaft, full chain guard, steel wheels with sir filled rubber knobby tires with Schwinn tread.
  • Fit a 3 to 5 years old, 16″ wheel size and an adjustable seat, 19″ low position and 24″ in high position. Handlebar is 22″ high, and 42″ long total.

Schwinn SmartStart bikes are the first bikes made to fit a child’s proportions

What is Schwinn Smart Start? It is a complete redesign of bike geometry to better match a child’s body type to create a more comfortable, ideal riding position. This includes a lighter bike frame for added control, smaller grip diameters to match smaller hands, and a more narrow pedal position to match children’s smaller hips. Other kids bikes are just shrunken down versions of adult bikes.

On a SmartStart bike, there will be less wobble while the child pedals so they will feel more confident and comfortable while going through the learning process. Plus, the seat angle was changed so as the seat is raised the reach distance to the handlebar also increases; meaning that the bike will fit your child longer.

Like a Schwinn bikes, SmartStart bikes have a limited lifetime warranty for as long as you own the bike. That’s the Schwinn quality promise. Share the freedom of riding a bike with your child.

Bought this bike for our daughter’s 5th birthday. She was getting awkwardly tall for her 12″ bike so it was time to move her up to the 16″. It’s the right kind of purple/pink/girl decor without being too overboard girly, and I didn’t like the bikes that had rapidly aging cartoon themes like Frozen. Everything was easy to assemble with just some box wrenches and an allen wrench. It’s packaged carefully to avoid scratching itself. The front brake caliper is a little tricky to figure out if you haven’t worked on bikes before, but it’s a standard design. You won’t get aerospace grade precision here. The pedals were a little tight and will work looser over time. The brake pads are a little non-uniform. But it’s certainly up to the demands of a 5 year old. I hit the chain with a little garage door lubricant and the pedals and wheel bearings with lithium grease. The instruction manual happens to include a helpful lubricant guide. My only concern with the manual is that it’s a little hard to tell which sections apply to this bike. Just think about it a little, grumble, and go at it. Everything will work out in the end and kiddo will be happy.24 people found this helpful

We bought this bike for my 5 year old. She loves it! I had a local bike shop check the assembly and tighten any loose connections, and they showed me that the brake pads for the front wheels were very used. You may be able to see in photos that they don’t tightly clamp down on the wheel when the hand brake is applied. We have only taken the bike out 2ce (it has been way too hot in TN this summer) since it was assembled, as you can see from the very minimal wear on the tires. I was surprised to have used brake pads since the bike was brand new and in a sealed box! I haven’t been able to find where I can write/call the company to request replacement parts, so hopefully this can be remedied. Make sure to check all the parts for wear prior to accepting this bike-we missed our window to return it.

ROYAL B WILLIFORD 5.0 out of 5 stars Girls love this bike.

Bought this bike after a lot of research for my two grand daughters (4 and 6) this bike fits both their sizes. I just adjust the seat up and down to fit them. Assembly is easy, handle bars one nut, pedals screw right on, front wheel two nuts, adjusting the hand brake (because it’s cheap) was a little time consuming, but on a kids bike I like them to use the coaster brake anyhow. Training wheels and seat then its done. Both of the girls love it and can ride it with the training wheels very easily. I just might have to buy another one.

Peggy K. 5.0 out of 5 stars” I got a great one that I am thrilled with

After seeing mixed reviews on this bicycle arriving with complaints of a warped wheel, or rubbing items unable to fix needed returning, etc. I still took a chance and purchased this for Grammy’s house for all grandkids to ride. “Santa brought Grammy a bike this year!” I got a great one that I am thrilled with! But what was I thinking? With 4 children, I’ve never purchased a bike with white wheels before as I just loved the look for granddaughters. DUH! What was I thinking? The cute little white wheels don’t stay white after one riding…..Personally I’ll now stick to those black tires…but wouldn’t trade it because it is awfully cute….dirty looking but still cute!

My 7 year old daughter LOVES this. She rides it often. My basket came out of the box all warped out like it got hot and settled weird but she doesn’t mind. I managed to put it together without instructions (which I didn’t find until I put the seat on). Breaks and training wheels are all easy to adjust but use an adjustable wrench to ensure tight fits.

Jennifer Y. 3.0 out of 5 stars They don’t make em how they used to

They don’t make em how they used to…they went el cheapo on this model. Cost was moderate to low end, so I wasn’t expecting bells and whistles, but woulda been nice for the trainer wheels to touch the ground and placed at an appropriate angle. This bike is also considerably more difficult to pedal from a standstill…not sure if it is drag or resistance, but I reason that it builds strength for longer rides. My girl did like the decals and basket.

Stacey 5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, just buy it

This bike was the perfect choice for my almost-five year old! The size is perfect for her feet to touch the ground on the lowest position, so we should get many years of use out of this bike.
The design is beautiful, and everyone compliments the bike everywhere we go. I like that it’s a bit unique from other little girl bikes. No tacky princesses here! We left the basket off as well, it just seemed excessive.
It was fairly easy to put together, but I had a bit of trouble getting the brake pads just right. A small price to pay for the great functionality of this bike, but if you’re not bike savvy, it might take you some time. I like the fact that it has the option to “peddle back” as a brake. My daughter is still quite small, and won’t be able to use the hand brake for a couple of years.
The only complaint I have about this bike is that there is no kickstand! My daughter does not need training wheels, so there is nothing to hold the bike up while it’s not in use. It seems like the bike will get worn out and damaged faster without the ability to keep it upright when it’s not in use. Not a dealbreaker, but a kickstand option would be nice.
Overall, I would 10/10 recommend.

Linda M. Giordano 2.0 out of 5 stars Not the quality I expected from a Schwinn bike.

August 24, 2018 Color: Purple Verified Purchase

Not the Schwinn quality I expected. My Granddaughter loved this bike, but after just a few rides on it, one of the training wheels fell off because the screws were stripped off and the washers specific to these training wheels fell off and got lost. $50.00 at a bike shop for new training wheels. The sevond ride after that was fixed, one of the bike petals kept falling off and could not be tightened. Also stripped or faulty crank and screws. Oh , yeah, the decals on the handles came off right away, so if you’re buying it because of the decoration, forget it.
