To win three tests in a row all with double-digit ratings is an incredible feat but then again the caliber Bossnut is an incredible bike the smaller 32 tooth chain ring also brings the chain line closer to the main pivot which in turn means that bite petals and climbs more efficiently all without losing its ability to absorb bones with a slack head angle the steering response is composed and control the fit of the bike is on the money to the stubby stem and wide bars perfectly matching the modern frame proportions.
The latest Evo version even gets a SRAM 1 by 11 drive train and that’s something I thought I’d never see on a thousand pound full suspension bike and as we found out in this year’s test there was the superior performance of the 130 ml travel caliber bossnut that gave an advantage over bikes with very similar geometry we’ve come to go outdoors the unlikely home of groundbreaking mountain bike development to meet the man behind the bossnut Mike Sanderson was the inspiration behind the fastener having a negative experience of mountain biking where I know there is one of the greatest sports are there like even if I fall off the bike is that I’ve still had a good day and I’d seen people kind of coming out at the end of trails and stuff like that on bikes that you know weren’t necessarily sort of designed very well.
I think a lot of rounds are really fun just unlike the kind of higher end with the product development and like and the lower end bites you just tapped on it so I’ve been saying for years Domon good geometry in size it doesn’t add anything to the bottom line so how come it took so long for a like last night to come along and well for caliber it took a little while to kind of you know sort of make sure that we had like you know place in the market and create a brand creating awareness and then sort of steadily move up and I that’s what I really wanted for the brand where a lot of brands start hi come down we already wanted to kind of bring that sort of entry level you know with the hotels and things move up and then you know.
I mean this isn’t the first bike brand you work for no so why didn’t you do it before and we have like yes of your hands tied potentially on certain things you know you’ve got you know committees you’ve got sort of a direction of sort of that company wants to be going in terms some ways you know if they want to just be driving sort of sales at a certain price point yeah things like that and then you know you’ve got risky potentially sort of Goa we want to push the norm can kind of put a lot of people I so yeah I mean there’s not much risking no but it’s you know sometimes like I say it takes a while for people to kind of come around to your way of thinking or you know just kind of put your trust in you sometimes there.
But you know what you’re talking about and then like you say everything is like kind of at this price point is a little bit of a compromise yeah okay yes the things like the stem and the the seat post you know they don’t need to be branded you know so as long as they’re a good component and they’re up to the task in they’re good in their form so nice short stem that you know isn’t it of you know all in some way shape or form you know it saves a couple of dollars here and a couple of dollars there and then you can put that in turn you know you can kind of maybe up the level of the fork or you know like the WTV tires you know.
Another key point you know a lot of bikes come with you know awful tires I mean that’s one of the things to separate your bike in the test this year yeah I mean well one of the several things they got a couple of other bikes where they had a good shape a reasonable suspension but it had done tires yeah so you know like although these bikes are available internationally you know they designed the developed Sheffield you know we’ve got some pretty sticky you know having decent tires is super key.
The bossnuts are high in ticket item for the number one selling product doors and you know and it’s the number one side product for obviously the the site these are the things and you know it it really just goes to show you that you know you said before if you really kind of think about how that boats gonna be ridden yeah and put yourself in that that consumers prepared point you know we can put a pro level rider on any bike whether it’s good but if they’ll still be faster than me yeah you know we’re so if we can be on a bike that is actually well thought out and got all of those you know good geometry good angles good suspension good tires good break so you can efficiently and tell you down all those things come together and create like a package that ultimately means you can bond to the end of the trail of the massacre on your face well every one thing you create a great backers from anything gets reflected in you thanking how successful the boats me yeah.
